Cherry Burton Fairtrade Village has been awarded “Runner-Up” in the Best Media Campaign category of this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight Awards!

Announcing the award, Veronica Pasteur, competition judge and Head of Campaigns at the Fairtrade Foundation, said “the village really punched above its weight in getting coverage in the Big Issue, Yorkshire Post, and three local papers as well as Radio Humberside. What sealed it for us was the story of Paco, the fair trade bear, who became a local celebrity after his parachute jump. You provided fantastic photo opportunities for the press and a full programme of events that gave plenty of opportunities for the papers to write about Fairtrade.”

Ros Stanley, our Hon. Secretary, received the award from George Alagiah and Patricia Alexander, Chief Executive of Shared Interest, when she attended the Fairtrade Supporters Conference on 10th October, and the Group is already planning how to use it to make next year’s activities even more exciting.
